"We corralled the team, pulled together renderings of several solutions to RCM’s needs and presented within 5 days. After we were awarded the project we celebrated for 3 minutes and got to work. The next 3 weeks were spent working closely with RCM and Pollack to design and specify. We do what it takes to get the job done with no handholding and no drama. That’s why we have so many repeat clients."
RCM is a global asset manager and a division of international Allianz Global Investors. It was founded in 1970 as Rosenberg Capital Management by Claude Rosenberg in San Francisco. As it moved into the 21st Century, it needed a workspace that reflected the company’s forward thinking philosophy of creating an environment that thrives on interaction, teamwork and knowledge sharing. They wanted their new office in San Francisco to reflect that openness.
Their move was from Embarcadero Center 4 to two floors at 555 Mission, a LEED building South of Market. This was also going to be a fast track project so it was key that the chosen dealer had an established relationship with the design team since there was little time to establish standards and expectations. From the moment that CRI was awarded this project we worked closely with the Pollack designers to find beautiful, efficient and cost effective solutions that would not impact the move in schedule. CRI was also instrumental in ancillary furniture choices and budgeting.
As the project was nearing completion and the relocation drew near, CRI and Herman Miller conducted a series of information seminars with the RCM staff to give them an overview of their new space; topics discussed were design intent, floor plan design, departmental adjacencies and office etiquette in a the new, more collaborative space. Because of these meetings, the employees experienced an informed transition ensuring a seamless, productive transition to their new home.
Jennifer McDonald from Pollack Architecture states,” The CFO’s opening comment was that the space looked more rich and expensive than what they paid for it. The CRI’s Architecture & Design Director, Tom DiRenzo, partnered with us on creative solutions for the typical worksettings. He also brought folders of cut sheets for each item on our list within the preliminary budget numbers – executive guest chairs, conference tables, etc. Once the selections were narrowed, we needed finishes, etc to complete the specification. Our library was especially pillaged and I knew it would take hours for me to call everyone for the appropriate finish samples. So, I made a call to Tom and asked if they could send over a few samples that he had on hand. He did one better! The next morning, Tom walked through our door with a bankers box. It had all the cut sheets with the finishes for everything – base, column, solid laminate, wood laminate, edge details, trim – clipped to each option. We have never received this level of service on any project. It made the final selection process so much easier and we were ready for the client presentation with every finish alternative, when asked. “
Joe, Tom, Lucy and the entire CRI project team provided the perfect solution on time and on budget.
